Hello! I'm JewJuBee

Updated: Feb 2, 2021

I am very passionate about the environment and that is why I am a full time-student at ECU studying Geology with Mathematics and Biology. I love living on the east coast, but my dream is to move to California for Grad school to receive a Ph.D. in Environmental Geology so that I can work in climate change research with ecosystem rehabilitation and endangered species. At this point in time, with the knowledge I have now in the subject, I plan to work with coastal processes (estuaries, rising ocean waters, meteorology risk and preparedness, and beaches). Growing up on the Crystal Coast I developed a passion and profound love for the ocean and the beaches.

I love spending as much time as I can outdoors trying to get as much sunlight as possible; because I’m pretty much a house plant just with complicated emotions. I love hiking and exploring the wilderness. Since I’ve started studying Geology, hiking has changed so much for me. Noticing all the outcroppings and rocks around me, being able to decipher how the different hills and mountains formed, and appreciating all of the earths' beauty. It can be so beautiful sometimes. (I have some photos on the blog to prove it.) My favorite trip so far was to Nantahala National Park because it was the first time I had seen a large waterfall up close! My most recent trip was the Summer of 2020, where I took a "backpacking" road trip across the country (social-distanced of course). I traveled from Raliegh, North Carolina to Yosemite, California, and back. I traveled through 16 states, sleeping in my car or pitching up a hammock at a national park or forest. I will be posting a blog all about it and my tips to save money on a summer road trip!

I've decided to start this blog for many reasons. The first reason being that I had just started a new series on YouTube for Planet Zoo (A zoo/park building simulator video game) and realized it would be a good chance to discuss different environmental issues that pertain to each episode. The second reason was that as I had prepared these episodes I thought “I should put all this information together on a website, sort of like a one-stop-shop for everything you need to know about the environment.” The third reason is sometimes when I talk to people about the environment, whether it be the issues we are facing or just something I found fascinating, most people respond with “interesting!” or “I didn’t know that!”; So I thought maybe the reason a lot of unnecessary damage is happening to our planet is that most people don’t realize it’s happening to begin with. AND BAM! The blog was born. I plan to use this blog to inform the public on all the different environmental issues at our forefront, give advice about how you can help at home, and hopefully make some change! So, check out the blogs, the photo and video gallery, and the sustainability shop! (in the works!)
